Season 5 Production Behind-the-Scenes

In August 2008, the production of the Fifth Season of Lost started in Hawaii with a big bang. After the exciting ending of Season 4, a lot of fans want to get the latest buzz on what will happen in the next season. First off, executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have announced that there will be two new characters to be added to the star-studded cast of the award-winning television drama series. These two new characters – Caesar and Ilanna – are expected to be not only mysterious but also lethal. French actor Said Taghmaoui will play Caesar, while Zuleika Robinson will play Ilanna. These two stars will appear as guests in the Fifth Season, but will become main cast members in the subsequent seasons of Lost. It is also worth mentioning that Reiko Aylesworth will be playing Amy, a businesswoman who is on the lookout for her Mr. Right.

One of the biggest production hiccups that the Lost crew encountered while filming the latest season is finding two seaworthy ships. The main ship, which was supposed to appear ominous and gloomy, ended up being the exact opposite; while the other ship, which was supposedly the chase ship, was actually the oldest one you can find in the Marina. In fact, many are saying that the chase ship looked like it was manufactured in the 1500s. Although it is really going to be tough for the production crew to transform these two ships into black and tough looking sea vessels, the more looming question is what these two seaworthy ships will play in the newest season of Lost. Another important production challenge this season was the car crash scene in the sixth episode.

There will be a lot of actors who will reprise their roles in the Fifth Season of the show. As mentioned, foremost among them is Daniel Dae Kim who plays Jin. How he managed to survive the explosion, however, is something that you ought to watch out for this season. Michelle Rodriquez will also make a guest appearance, probably in a flashback sequence. Many people in Honolulu confirmed that she has been spotted filming in the area. And if you are a fan of Emilie de Ravin, do not worry because you will be seeing her again, but not in Season 5. All in all, this new season of Lost will yet again put viewers at the edge of their seats.

What’s Going to Happen This Season?

If you are an avid fan of Lost, you must be very excited right now. On January 16, 2009, Season 5 of the series will premiere in two special back-to-back episodes. The first two episodes, called “Because You Left” and “The Lie”, are reported to embody classical Lost. That means both installments will be brimming with twists and turns that can only be described as beyond one’s imagination. The pilot episodes will no doubt lay the storytelling structure for the entire season. According to a very reliable source, the opening scenes of the first two episodes are so shocking and overwhelming that fans will truly be left with mouths agape.

As mentioned before, Season 5 will have a very different structure compared to the other seasons. Many credible reports say that during the first few minutes of the pilot episodes, the audience will not know the time of the story. But one thing is for sure, the last survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 will begin to experience the consequences of moving the island. And Ben and Jack will start their pursuit of bringing all of the Oceanic 6 back together. Their reunion is needed in order to save other fellow castaways in the island. Fans will definitely see what happens to Ben and Locke’s body in the funeral parlor. Also, viewers will pick up from where Sayid took Hurley from the mental hospital.

There are also off-cam scenes that can most likely spoil the rest of the season. These include the fact that Jack, Kate, Hurley, Jin and Sawyer were seen together at the Barracks. On the set, actor Daniel Dae Kim, who plays Jin, has been seen with the co-star playing the role of Rousseau. Also, actor Lance Reddick who plays the character Matthew Abbadon has been reported to be in Hawaii lately. For fans, this can only mean one thing, creepy Matthew will return in Season 5. Horace Goodspeed will also be seen in around four episodes. However, Claire will not be present in this latest season.

In Episode 5, an insider report said that there will be plenty of bizarre sound effects. And in Episode 6, there will be a car crash incident which involves several vehicles. Locke will be seen bloodied, but he will manage to check out the damage to his car. Watch out also for the revelation that Ben will be floating in both time and geography this season. Viewers will also find out that there is only one Dharma Station that is off the island. And Bernard and Rose have been to that station. So, there you have it. These facts and occurrences will definitely determine the outcome of Lost Season 5.

Beating Your Brains Out With Lost Season 5

You may think that you have seen everything in Lost. There are flashbacks, flash forwards, and back stories that unravel the stories behind each character in the series. But in the latest season of Lost, which premieres this January 16, 2009, all bets are off. Stories in Season 5 will be presented in a whole new light using a storytelling structure that plays the stories on and off the mysterious island and at different moments in time. Nevertheless, every angle will still trace the stories of the survivors of the ill-fated Oceanic Flight 815 and the inhabitants of the mysterious island.

In the Fifth Season, some characters will be gone, while others will be making a come back. The show’s producers have indicated that there will be at least twelve roles that will be played with star billing. Mainstay characters like Dr. Jack Shepard. Benjamin Linus, Desmond Hume, Kate Austen, Sayid Jarrah, and Sun Kwon among others will still be in Season 5.

The creators of the Lost series also announced that the latest season will provide the answer to why all the characters who have successfully escaped from the island need to go back. Stories in Season 5 will be presented in such a way that some parts of the episodes will transpire off the island, while other scenes will be about what will happen to the characters while they are on the island in a separate time continuum. Another important part of the Fifth Season that you should watch out for is the return of Jin. It will be remembered that in the Fourth Season, Jin was among those in the Kahana when it exploded and sank to the bottom of the ocean. Well, reliable reports say that Jin actually survived and will still be in the latest season. The producers of the show also declared that Vincent the dog had survived the Oceanic crash and still lives on the mysterious island.

For many fans, the best thing about Lost is the seeming allusion to the centuries-old rift between faith and science. In the series, this comes in the form of the difference between Locke and Jack. In the last episode of Season 4, Locke became the leader of the Others after Ben made the island disappear. It was also revealed that on the third year after the Oceanic survivors had left the island, Locke has died and that he used the pseudonym Jeremy Bentham. In this flash forward scene, Ben told Jack that everyone must go back to the island, including Locke/Bentham in the coffin. So, one thing is for sure in the Fifth Season, the dichotomy between Locke and Jack will still continue.
