  6. locolizrd says:

one of the best episodes yet….anticipating the next 4. Who do you guys think will be the new recruit?

  7. GoatBoy says:

    Thanks from Norway.
Great episode, always nice to learn more about Jacob and the man in black, not to mention the destruction of the statue.

But all this going back in time and learning about Richards arrival and the events around that, made me wonder what happened even further back in time, who built the statue?
    The temple?

Also want to add a small thought i had about Jacob and the man in black, they remind me ALOT about the comic Lucifer, And the two archangels Michael and Lucifer, where Michael is the one who is entirely devoted to his father(God) and Lucifer who wants to break free of his fathers creation.

The similarity is that Jacob is entirely devoted to the hope that man can not be corrupted, and that he will take the right decisions when posed with a situation with a Good option on one side and an “evil” option on the other, infact it seems he’s brought thousands of people to the island, all dead, yet he keeps bringing them(wich also makes me wonder what is so different about the six remaining candidates)
The man in black just wants to escape the island.

This might not be relevant, but i thought it was an interesting comparison and an interesting to play around with, though i doubt they’ll draw in any Christian or religious concepts in the end.(other then egyptian maybe)

  8. Adam says:

Again thanks for the uploads also thanks Nick for posting the Megavideo link .. Kudos !

  9. arnie says:

well said, i would like to know what happened way back, but i think they will have a few spin offs from lost to tie up lose ends, they will have to. their is no way they can tie up all the lose ends in the episodes that they have left.

  10. safi says:

THANK YOU so much for this site, dont know who u are but u the best.

I think the writers figured out the ending way before they started shooting the first episode. Can it be?

  11. Alex says:

    Best Lost episode EVER.

  12. Droogs says:

My opinion is the island is a prison for the black cloud, Jacob is/was the warden and is looking for a replacement. The others are the jailors keeping the black cloud under guard. Well thats what i think lol.

  13. Adam says:

I think lost is VERY much shaped around religious imagery and perception.

Jacob is some sort of guardian angel (definitely not representative or even a perspective of God), I very much liked the analogy of him being “Michael”, one of the three archangels, entirely devoted to the Father. The “man in black” is most definitely Lucifer (the fallen Angel). The island, I think is a microcosm of the world. Initially it was a place of perfection (as perceived through the greenery, the statue, the harmony between life on the island). Sin befell the place when man fell. Lucifer (the devil) is contained to the Island and as the red wine analogy portrayed, constrained from escaping by the island. If he should escape, being the devil: the absence of god (hell) will spread everywhere and encompass the world. Hence, it is essential that the “man in black” does not succeed in leaving the island.

The people brought to the island represent is a tricky one. Ultimately, I guess they represent people like you and I, but the island is a “fresh start” & as Jacob says, their past doesn’t matter. It is possible therefore, that the island is some sort of purgatory (Catholicism).

The “Darma Initiative” may well be a criticism of society, of how we have manipulated the earth to our own Agenda, swaying it away from it’s purpose. This is evident from the destruction on the island.

That’s my take on things. Nevertheless, this episode was good and supported most of my above theories (which I now believe are fairly well backed up :D ) – I’m looking forward to the last 4 episodes, I hope that they continue to tie up loose ends in a believable fashion.

    Regards

  14. erm politics people….john locke and thomas hobbes…research them and also jean jacque rouseauu lost stinks of their theories about man

  15. runpoochrun says:

Adam, there are actually 9 more episodes, not 4, at least according to these sites: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_(season_6), http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Season_6

Anyone else think the Man in Black might actually turn out to be the good guy? The writers have been known to pull a few tricks on viewers.

While it’s great that we’re finally seeing [what seems to be] the big story, I really hope it doesn’t boil down to religious allusions.

  16. Chuck Noland says:

My Dear Fellows, this is way out of question that people have the right to sin or not to, and Jacob (Apparently) is not God himself right? But I’m questioning one thing here; if he ain’t the God, then he must be some sort of the Archangel right? “The Man in Black” (which I really like his acting) supposedly referred to as the devil is much stronger and wiser than Jacob, he Takes action instead of sending a representative, which one is more persuasive than the other?

  17. Blitzkrieg says:

excellent excellent episode…best one so far!thnx for uploading man

  18. Ellen says:

My theory.. again only mine.. MIB is not the devil.. he warned everyone at the temple to leave or he will destroy them. His word stood solid. Locke was picked as the MIB due to his faith. He knew there was something special about the Island and never gave up hope. He the best candidate. Jacob told Richard that Isabella was not on the Island but Reyes saw her and spoke to her with Richard and remember even MIB did not deny she was there… Jacob is not good he lies and does not keep his word-think of all the promises he made to Linus, Richard, and had Dogen come to the Island in exchange for his son’s life.. etc.. Jacob is persuasive and remember white does not always mean good which he is always trying to portray. God killed many by the black smoke, wind, etc..and warned people to leave the cities before he destroyed. I think MIB is God or a representative and leaving the Island in which he wants to do would be the end of the world and people would possibly going to hell since they will be judged… ???? Also, at the temple they saw a black smoke in Sayid.. I think it was God/Holy Spirit guiding him to do right. Dogen did not like this…Remember Dogen told Sayid to go and kill Locke knowing he could not be killed and thinking Sayid would get killed.. but his plan did not work.. All people led by Jacob are not good.. Jacob’s name means “deceiver” in the Bible.. hence his name was changed to Israel… Just some thoughts.. they may change in next episode.. =)

    Thanks for the site.. =)

its quite poor if it would be the fight between good and evil. this old, way to simple, concept to use for the explanation for the whole story…. boring…. good and evil… uuuahhh terrible. why to produce all that mess, and theories, to come up with such a one dimensional idea at the end. dissappointing. christian cheese. i fall asleep. no fantasie. no big alternative utopie? buhh.

  22. timra22 says:

There was the scene where white met black, offered the wine…

No great mystery there, Jacob doesn’t want to let the MIB off the island – evil spreading – and, going on everything we’ve seen in all the series, the black smoke is only really starting to ‘make friends’ in this final series. Perhaps the MIB is just changing tack to get want he/it wants?

Is it possible the the writers have almost made it too complex, season after season, so that this easy to understand (keep everyone happy) ending is just as simple as it seems? Are we over thinking it?

    Anyway, let’s wait and see.
    Great site again…kudos.

  23. Jen says:

Mille merci, thousand times thank you for uploading the episodes.

Thanks from Montenegro too! I wonder, how did Cristian (Jacks father) get to the island?! Where is he now, who is he working for? His stoy remains to bee explained…

  25. Chuck Noland says:

I’d say three cheers for Ellen. You are absolutely right.

  26. gms says:

After watching the episode, the number one word in my mind is pergatory. It makes so much sense. Over and over we have seen people killed indiscrematrally(pre judged for heaven or hell), or killed after choices and conflicts have been faced before them(scripted conflicts have been addressed and resolved or acknowledged). Alternatively, characters have perservered. I think LOST is a study/exploration of the concept of pergatory. What is left for me in the final episodes is who fulfills which role. Is Jacab God, or his advocate?? The man in black the other?? OR visversa?? The role and origin of Widmore is a confusing question outside of the aforementioned deduction.

  30. Rai says:

Just a thought triggered by an earlier comment. Could the reappearance of Jack’s father be the ‘smoke monster’ taking over his body and using his ‘image’ to manipulate people, just like he has now taken over Locke’s body. After all, both Jack’s father and Locke came to the island in coffins…. what happened to his original body though (as seen in this ep)? after all, Jacob kept the same body….
I’ve always taken the whole reappearance of dead people etc as more of a scientific thing, than religious, relating to the whole concept of time and time travel etc, and general protection of the island rather than an huge overarching concept of good/evil, life/death. Lost started out as a really good study of the different characters with a mysterious twist, and now it’s got way out of control. Let’s hope they can reign it back in and make some sense by the end!
Looking forward to the next ep though!
